Quantum Systems raised a $1.2 billion Series D at a valuation above $8 billion, announced July 6, 2026. The round was co-led by Blackstone, Noteus, Airbus and Advent, with BOND, Fidelity Management & Research, Wellington Management, A.P. Moller Holding and Elephant Lake Ventures joining, alongside existing backers Balderton and HV Capital. The valuation more than doubled.

The future is unmanned. We now have more than $1.2 billion of dry powder to execute. — Florian Seibel, co-founder and co-CEO, Quantum Systems

CFO Jonas Jarosch cited "triple-digit growth, double-digit profitability" — a combination almost nothing in the autonomy sector can claim.

Where the aircraft actually fly

The company is based in Gilching, Germany and was founded in 2015. It reports more than 19,000 missions flown in Ukraine during 2025, with production in Germany, Ukraine, the United States, Australia, Romania, the United Kingdom and the Baltics. Its software layer is the MOSAIC UXS ecosystem.

The Airbus relationship deepened alongside the investment. Airbus Defence and Space CEO Michael Schoellhorn framed the collaboration around "accelerating the sensor-to-shooter chain" — which is a precise description of what the money is buying: not autonomy as a capability, but autonomy as a link in a targeting loop.

Why it matters

Physical AI capital in 2026 has concentrated around two poles: humanoids with pilots and no revenue, and defense autonomy with contracts and combat hours. This is squarely the second. A profitable autonomy company is rare enough that the valuation multiple is arguably the conservative part of the round.

The Airbus participation is the structural signal. When a prime invests rather than procures, it is buying a supply position in a category it expects to become standard equipment — the same pattern Bosch and Schaeffler followed into humanoids.
