UBTech's Liuzhou factory goes live, sized for 10,000 humanoids a year

UBTech Robotics announced on Sunday, September 13, 2026 that a humanoid robot factory in Liuzhou, in China’s Guangxi region, designed for 10,000 units a year has begun operating, at a stated pace of one robot every 10 minutes. The 14,000 m² plant builds Walker S-series and Cruzr-series robots and uses UBTech’s own humanoids to handle materials on the line.

UBTech calls it the world’s first intelligent manufacturing facility for humanoid robots designed for 10,000-unit capacity, a company claim. It follows the company’s stated target of 10,000 full-size humanoids for 2026, which Chinese coverage has read as a capacity figure rather than a delivery forecast.

What does the Liuzhou factory build?

The line produces the bipedal Walker S series and the Cruzr series, including the wheeled Cruzr Y1 and Cruzr S2, according to the Global Times. The building covers 14,000 m² and stands 13.8 m tall. Interesting Engineering reports that each robot contains more than 2,000 screws of different specifications.

The plant was co-built with Siemens Digital Industries Software. Siemens’ Plant Simulation software was used to build a 1:1 digital model of the factory for layout planning and production scheduling, and each robot carries a unique serial code that links its components, assembly parameters and inspection records.

How are robots building robots in Liuzhou?

Cruzr Y1 and Cruzr S2 units handle depalletising, palletising, loading and material transport. Collaborative arms on 360-degree rotating stations drive screws in final assembly, and automated guided vehicles and unmanned forklifts move parts between stations. Finished robots go into an automated three-dimensional warehouse that stores 112 units in 65 m².

UBTech says each complete robot undergoes more than four hours of whole-machine testing and passes through an automotive-grade lighting tunnel for 360-degree exterior inspection. “Mass production is inseparable from the support of China’s supply chain,” UBTech vice president Pang Jianxin told the Global Times.

How does 10,000 a year compare with UBTech’s sales?

UBTech sold 1,079 full-size humanoids in 2025 and 921 in the first half of 2026, when humanoid revenue reached RMB 590.3 million and the group still posted a loss of RMB 338.8 million. The new plant is sized for roughly five times the 2,000 units sold across those 18 months.

Why it matters: a humanoid factory is now a fixed cost that has to be filled. The 10-minute cadence is a design figure; the numbers that will show whether demand exists are UBTech’s second-half deliveries and the plant’s utilisation, neither of which has been disclosed.
